Recently, the Ontario Solar Academy (OSA) graduated its 100th student since starting its 5-Day PV Design & Installation solar training program in February.
Jacob Travis, founder of OSA said "Ontario just didn't have the training infrastructure necessary to support a growing solar industry. We launched OSA to change this."
With Ontario introducing the Green Energy Act with ambitions of employing 50,000 people in the solar industry, solar companies started popping up across the province but with a lack of qualified technicians, solar training programs were desperately needed.
"Our launch date was no coincidence," Travis recalls. "Like many others, I was anticipating the Green Energy Act to make Ontario the hottest solar market in the world."
After 4 months, 100 people have graduated and David Gower, Associate Director, explains, "With the solar training we provide, our students are well poised to build upon the foundation of their own businesses or find positions in Ontario's growing solar industry. We're proud about graduating our 100th student, and with our expanded facility, we're on target to exceed 500 by June next year."
OSA offer monthly solar training classes in the Toronto area. Solar training courses are on June 21-25, July 19-23, and July 26-30. Students who register 3 weeks in advance qualify for a $350 discount. For more information visit www.SolarAcademy.ca.
