If you are a native of the UK and want to start a career in the solar industry then the The Plumbing Academy run a vast number of intensive courses related to solar plumbing and heating.
One solar training course which has very recently been introduced at The Plumbing Academy is the solar panel installation course, also referred to as the solar domestic hot water installers course. There are a number of aims and benefits that the course will bring into place for all those who participate.
The Solar DHW Installers course will assist in providing generic information and insight into the exact number of domestic solar hot water heating systems that have been installed throughout the U.K.
The main aim of the course is to analyse the present technologies in the U.K. solar market and then proceed to meet all the specific needs and requirements of the Renewable Energy Training manufacturers. The course has been designed for all competent and able heating engineers and plumbing operatives who will be trained to facilitate selection, installation and also the maintenance of domestic solar heating systems.
The BPEC solar training program does have very specific requirements for those who are actually able to take part in the course, which are as follows.
Only candidates who have a number of year's experience in plumbing or alternatively conventional heating engineering can take the course. Candidates may also apply if they have achieved a formal qualification at NQV level 3 in plumbing or heating engineering or those who are currently taking a course in either of the above which will result in them achieving a qualification such as an NVQ level 3.

Popular New Solar Training From UK Solar Century
UK Company Solar Century’s new one day roofer solar training courses are proving a success with roofers looking to prepare for diversification into solar.
The solar specialists will be training nearly 30 roofers from 15 companies on how to market, specify and install solar electric roof tiles and slates as part of their standard contracting service.
Chris Hopkins, a recent trainee and Managing Director of Ploughcroft Roofing said: “This training for C21e system installation underpins our position in the vanguard of the roofing revolution. Last year we became the first company in the country to offer certificated National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) training in the fitting of solar panels on roof tops, and this is a great step forward.”
He added: “The new solar slates are very relevant for us because there are so many slate roofs in the area where we work. In fact we have already had a number of requests for the product from local authorities and schools.”
The demand for roofers to acquire solar skills is the Code for Sustainable Homes, the Government’s support of renewable energy. So this form of solar training is imperative.
Roofers are keen to get trained up in solar skills as photovoltaic (PV) technology, or solar electric becomes more and more popular with homeowners and businesses alike.
According to the Government’s Department for Business and Regulatory Reform (DBERR), more companies and organisations are choosing solar PV than all other renewable energy technologies put together, making it the most popular and fastest growing renewable energy for the trades to diversify into.
Recent research has shown that this is a global trend, with up to 6.3 million jobs in PV expected by 2030, 75% of this in installation. So getting ready for the solar revolution with some practical solar training seems a great way of enhancing your business.
In the UK, the public sector and charities are entitled to a 50% saving on the costs of installing micro generation technologies under the Government’s Low Carbon Buildings Programme, and individuals up to £2,500.
Martin White, C21 product manager at Solarcentury says: “It’s great that roofers have been so keen to come on our training courses and get involved with solar. Roofers are best placed to provide C21e installations and as demand is rising for intelligent energy generation, solar roof tiles and slates are becoming key to diversifying the roofing trade".
Jeremy Leggett, Executive Chairman of Solarcentury added: “Despite the economic downturn, social housing providers need to continue investing in the UK’s housing needs. Because of this, the public sector is leading the way in demonstrating how innovations such as solar PV can contribute to the design of homes that meet the demands of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
“Without employing renewable energy technology such as solar PV, there is no way that levels five and six of the Code are possible. Roofing contractors who recognise this have the opportunity to maximise their business opportunities, as the market shifts towards trades which can deliver renewable technologies.”
For those wanting to get involved in these solar training classes in 2009, training is being held at city centres throughout the country including London, Birmingham, Brighouse, Exeter and Edinburgh. Each course is one day, with a maximum of 10 people per class.
Roofers can expect the following:
o Introduction to solar energy – how solar works (PV and thermal technologies)
o Overview of the C21e solar electric systems, key components and system sizes
o Design considerations for the roofer – compatibility, interfacing, recommended layouts, installation checklists
o Demonstrations and hands-on experience of installing the C21e systems
o Business opportunities for roofers – assessing and qualifying opportunities, working with electrical contractors, effective marketing using Solarcentury materials.
Trainees are also provided with a full marketing kit and ongoing support and on completion of two successfully inspected installations, trainees will become Approved Roofing Contractors and be recommended on the Solarcentury website. Cost per head is £367 (inc VAT), with substantial discounts available for additional trainees of the same company and graduates of the NFRC solar course.

New Solar Training Program By Dupont
A brand new solar trainng program was announced by that will allow the company to share its technical expertise with cities as they pursue solar installations at The U.S. Conference of Mayors 77th Annual Meeting in Providence.
Using various means, DuPont experts will make themselves available to help cities make qualified decisions about their options. The program is designed to support cities by providing a trusted, knowledge-based resource and scientifically sound advice on solar installations.
DuPonts STEP Program is a new and innovative component of its eight-year partnership with USCM Cities United for Science Progress (CUSP). The mission of this partnership is to bring DuPonts scientific know-how to assist mayors in making their cities healthier, safer and smarter.
If any of you are interested in a new solar career and don't know where to start, DuPont is happy to be a resource to you.
With the price of traditional energy contining to rise as reserves for non-renewable resources such as oil, coal, and natural gas are exhausted, solar energy will gain in popularity. This is where qualified experts will make lots of money as there will be a shortage.
As the U.S. seeks to conserve these resources, reduce carbon emissions, and curb the rate of global climate change, the need for additional renewable energy solutions becomes increasingly evident.
Public/private partnerships, similar to USCM/DuPont, are supporting this shift, fueling growth and faster adoption of renewable energy sources such as solar and getting the country ready for the changeover.
The sun provides one of cleanest forms of energy, which is why solar energy is fast emerging as a preferred solution to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
Solar energy is non-polluting, does not generate greenhouse gases, and creates no waste products. Solar power produces no noise.
Photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems are proven effective in both commercial and residential settings, have minimal maintenance costs, and are extremely long lasting - many PV module makers offer 25 year warrantees. Solar power is an increasingly attractive and more cost effective renewable energy option.
DuPont, a leading materials supplier to the photovoltaics industry, is becoming active in initiatives to educate cities about the science of solar energy through their solar training programs and how it can best be utilized.
With more than 25 years of experience in the PV industry, DuPont is committed to innovation in materials that improve the lifetime and efficiency of solar modules. Through the STEP Program, DuPont will bring this history of innovation and knowledge into city hall to help cities achieve a more reliable investment payback, more power per installed watt, and safer operations from PV power systems.
So if you would like to start a new career in solar energy I'd advise you could do worse than sighning up to a Dupont solar training program.
